Goulburn Extended Family Session

This is an extended family session from earlier this year. It was a stinking hot January afternoon and the little ones did so well to cope with the heat! I was lucky enough to photograph the little girl in the blue dress as a newborn. So I was really excited to see how much she had grown. And I especially loved her sassy little attitude! And I can’t wait to deliver their package of prints this week. Keep an eye out on Instagram for a sneak peek of their order.

Autumn is an amazing time of year for a photo session. Autumn brings with it beautiful coloured trees. The opportunity to wear layers, cardigans and hats. And sunset is much earlier, making a golden hour session logistically so much easier for families with young children. It is my absolute favourite time of the year. I only have a few sessions left in late April and early May, so book now to avoid disappointment. You can book HERE.

I will be taking a little break over Easter and then again over the school holidays (can you believe they are less than a month away?) to spend time with my boys and catch-up from a very busy first quarter of 2018.

Goulburn Extended Family Session

School holidays are almost over and I have been easing myself back in to the swing of things. I am so thankful for my lovely clients who have given me time with my family over the Christmas break. I have so many lovely sessions to pop up on the blog in the coming weeks as I work through my editing pile.

This session was from before Christmas. The girls had their makeup professionally done with Jo Alchin at Styledforyou and they all looked absolutely gorgeous. It is my usual preference to either shoot early in the morning or late in the evening. However we had this session quite late in the morning and chose the little Reserve in Eastgrove, below the train tracks, knowing that it would provide us with some cover from the harsh summer sun. It was also unbelievably warm but we made it work!

Stormy Summer Nights – Goulburn Family Photographer

I have been really looking forward to sharing this beautiful  family session on my blog. When I met this family at our first location (which I will blog about another day), and saw them get out of the car, I actually did a little internal squeal about how gorgeous they all looked. I could instantly tell that the mum had put a lot of time and effort in to coordinating everyone’s outfits. And it was absolutely time and effort well spent!

We had previously postponed this session due to poor weather, and on this particular evening we got a bit lucky with a storm hitting just as we were wrapping up. But the sky just prior to this was simply amazing. And even better complementing the colours in the girls dresses just perfectly.

Selecting outfits can be tricky but my top three tips are:

1. Choose 3 or so colours for your family, ones with similar tones that compliment each other but aren’t matchy matchy.
2. Avoid patterns and overly bright colours.
3. Incorporating different textures, layers and accessories is the perfect way to add interest to your outfits.

And don’t ever discount comfort in your fashion choices. Because if you feel uncomfortable then that definitely has the potential to show in your images. Pinterest can also be a wealth of inspiration if you need some direction on colours that compliment each other. I am also more than happy to help you source beautiful dresses just like the ones in this session.

Extended Family Session ~ Goulburn Photographer

A month or so a go I was lucky enough to meet this lovely family who had chosen Goulburn as the perfect meeting location for their entire family to get together and have some family photos taken in an extended family session.

The weather in Goulburn over the past few weeks has been pretty unpredictable so we decided on the grounds of the Court House as our location, hoping that if it should rain we would be able to find cover! As it turned out the weather was perfect. I guess that’s Goulburn for you.

Extended family sessions are always a lot of fun with plenty of banter and laughter. This session was no exception. Thank you so much for travelling and allowing me to capture these images for you.

Want to book your own Extended Family Session?

I thought I would be all wrapped up with Christmas shooting by this weekend, but I’m so lucky to still have four little newborns to photograph in the next week. And with the exception of a few special projects, I will be taking January off to spend with my boys. If you’re interested in a session for February onwards please get in touch to lock in your preferred date.

Have a safe and happy Christmas.

Family Farm Fun {Goulburn Family Photographer}

Today is the last day of school holidays. I’m feeling very fortunate that our holidays were filled with lots of lovely time with our family. I am also equal parts happy to get my older boys back off to school and sad that holidays and the break from routine is over. School holidays always start with such good intentions. I don’t take on any photo shoots during the school holidays. Instead I prefer to focus on spending time with my boys. I also usually take the break to catch up on my editing and blogging and do some planning for the coming the months.

Sometimes regardless of our intentions things don’t really work out as planned. So here I am on the last day of holidays scurrying to cross a few things from my ever growing list.

So that brings me to this gorgeous sessions. This little man was a week or so from turning 1. He was unbelievably happy and just loved hanging out with his parents at their property having his photo taken. My favourite thing about the session is just how natural all the images are. I think they really capture the innocence and joy that is so abundant with children at this age. I’m also really loving the black and white collage from the session, it’s just so beautiful.

Autumn Mini Sessions – Goulburn Photographer

Today I have spent most of the morning packaging up prints and USB’s from my recent autumn mini sessions at the Lake George Winery. It’s one of those jobs I probably should have saved for when my little ones weren’t around to “help” me out. I’ve lost count of how many times the scissors and sticky tape have gone missing. No doubt I’m soon to find something taped up that did not require it!

So I thought I should probably start blogging all the shoots from that day. This one was my first shoot for the day. Our day kicked off at 9:30 am and it was extremely foggy. I was also super excited because the mum from this shoot is just starting out on her own photography journey and I knew that meant she would nail the what to wear. And she definitely did. When deciding what to wear, especially in autumn and winter, you can never go wrong with layers. They add visual interest and allow you to bring in some colour and texture.

EOFY Sale & Availability

I can’t believe we are almost half way through the year already. Being an accountant 30 June is one of my favourite dates on the calendar, so keep an eye out for my EOFY sale coming up over the next few days.

Do you have a voucher that you are yet to use? Be sure to book in early to avoid disappointment, as I am already booking dates as far away as September. I also will be taking some time off over the July and September school holidays to spend with my boys.

Fabulous & Fun Family of Five { Goulburn Family Photographer}

Thanks to Goulburn Rugby I have known this lovely little family forever. And I was so excited when this session was gifted to them by some of our friends when their third baby was born. Well that little man recently turned one. So we finally got around to having our session, at Rocky Hill, on an absolutely stunning Autumn day. We really couldn’t have asked for better weather.

This session was seriously fun, like laugh out loud, never want it to end fun. The brief was unposed, candid shots. Shots that capture their family just as they are at this moment in time. I think we definitely nailed that. And actually I couldn’t help but feel happy and giggly as I worked through editing the images.

Rocky Hill is such an iconic Goulburn location and it is perfect for a family session as there are so many areas to explore. It’s also one of my favourite spots in town and I often park at the wetlands and make my boys walk up via the stairs. We call it ‘exploring’ and they love climbing the rocks that lead from the stairs up to the War Memorial and then exploring the area beyond the War Memorial itself. It’s the perfect way for them to burn off some of their seemingly endless energy.

I had so much trouble choosing but here are just a few of my favourites:

Early Autumn Express Session { Goulburn Family Photographer}

What is an Express Session?

I offer a little session I like to call my ‘Express Session’. It’s a bit like a mini session, which you might be familiar with from other photographers. However I don’t schedule multiple sessions in one day and I’m flexible with location. I find they are perfect for families with young children because the sessions are fast and fun. What makes them different though is you don’t get the variety of location as we usually just shoot in one particular spot. You also don’t get the same the number of shots you would normally get in an hour long family session. But for these reasons they are also a more affordable option. And they also importantly work in well with the demands of my family, especially now the winter sport season has commenced.

This lovely family were visiting Goulburn from Wagga Wagga and knew that an express session would be perfect for their boys. There was plenty of time for the boys to run around the beautiful grounds of the Goulburn Water Works, but not so much time that they became tired or bored. I’m really thankful that they took time out of their visit to fit in our session.

Interested in seeing some images from other express sessions? Check out this gorgeous session here or perhaps this one here.

Laughter & Sunshine {Crookwell Family Photographer}

I really loved this session. The kids were super excited and full of energy and racing around everywhere, and as a result we got a lot of fabulous and candid shots of the kids being exactly who they are in this moment of time. And that’s my absolute favourite thing about photography, that you’re really just documenting a brief moment of time. And every time I look at this session I remember all the laughter from the day and it just brings a really big smile to my face.

Here are just a couple of my favourites.

Family Love! {Goulburn Family Photographer}

Today my Facebook memories reminded me that on this day last year I blogged about a little mini session I did for my youngest sister and her family. So I thought that was a great reminder that I haven’t actually blogged a little session I did for another of my sisters late last year (probably because she hasn’t even seen them all yet – oops!).

My sister used to drive me mental when we were kids (I’m six years older) and I often joke that I didn’t even like her until she was 17, but she is now one of my closest friends and also the most generous and selfless person I know.

I love walking in to my sisters house, she really values photographs and she is exceptional at actually printing her images and displaying them beautifully on her walls. She’s recently ordered a stunning aluminum print from this session and I can’t wait to show it to you all on Facebook when it arrives this week.

Here a few of my favourites and hey KB I promise I’ll get the rest of them to you soon xx
