Autumn Mini Sessions – Goulburn Photographer

Today I have spent most of the morning packaging up prints and USB’s from my recent autumn mini sessions at the Lake George Winery. It’s one of those jobs I probably should have saved for when my little ones weren’t around to “help” me out. I’ve lost count of how many times the scissors and sticky tape have gone missing. No doubt I’m soon to find something taped up that did not require it!

So I thought I should probably start blogging all the shoots from that day. This one was my first shoot for the day. Our day kicked off at 9:30 am and it was extremely foggy. I was also super excited because the mum from this shoot is just starting out on her own photography journey and I knew that meant she would nail the what to wear. And she definitely did. When deciding what to wear, especially in autumn and winter, you can never go wrong with layers. They add visual interest and allow you to bring in some colour and texture.

EOFY Sale & Availability

I can’t believe we are almost half way through the year already. Being an accountant 30 June is one of my favourite dates on the calendar, so keep an eye out for my EOFY sale coming up over the next few days.

Do you have a voucher that you are yet to use? Be sure to book in early to avoid disappointment, as I am already booking dates as far away as September. I also will be taking some time off over the July and September school holidays to spend with my boys.

Fabulous & Fun Family of Five { Goulburn Family Photographer}

Thanks to Goulburn Rugby I have known this lovely little family forever. And I was so excited when this session was gifted to them by some of our friends when their third baby was born. Well that little man recently turned one. So we finally got around to having our session, at Rocky Hill, on an absolutely stunning Autumn day. We really couldn’t have asked for better weather.

This session was seriously fun, like laugh out loud, never want it to end fun. The brief was unposed, candid shots. Shots that capture their family just as they are at this moment in time. I think we definitely nailed that. And actually I couldn’t help but feel happy and giggly as I worked through editing the images.

Rocky Hill is such an iconic Goulburn location and it is perfect for a family session as there are so many areas to explore. It’s also one of my favourite spots in town and I often park at the wetlands and make my boys walk up via the stairs. We call it ‘exploring’ and they love climbing the rocks that lead from the stairs up to the War Memorial and then exploring the area beyond the War Memorial itself. It’s the perfect way for them to burn off some of their seemingly endless energy.

Early Autumn Express Session { Goulburn Family Photographer}

What is an Express Session?

I offer a little session I like to call my ‘Express Session’. It’s a bit like a mini session, which you might be familiar with from other photographers. However I don’t schedule multiple sessions in one day and I’m flexible with location. I find they are perfect for families with young children because the sessions are fast and fun. What makes them different though is you don’t get the variety of location as we usually just shoot in one particular spot. You also don’t get the same the number of shots you would normally get in an hour long family session. But for these reasons they are also a more affordable option. And they also importantly work in well with the demands of my family, especially now the winter sport season has commenced.

This lovely family were visiting Goulburn from Wagga Wagga and knew that an express session would be perfect for their boys. There was plenty of time for the boys to run around the beautiful grounds of the Goulburn Water Works, but not so much time that they became tired or bored. I’m really thankful that they took time out of their visit to fit in our session.

Family Love! {Goulburn Family Photographer}

Today my Facebook memories reminded me that on this day last year I blogged about a little mini session I did for my youngest sister and her family. So I thought that was a great reminder that I haven’t actually blogged a little session I did for another of my sisters late last year (probably because she hasn’t even seen them all yet – oops!).

My sister used to drive me mental when we were kids (I’m six years older) and I often joke that I didn’t even like her until she was 17, but she is now one of my closest friends and also the most generous and selfless person I know.

I love walking in to my sisters house, she really values photographs and she is exceptional at actually printing her images and displaying them beautifully on her walls. She’s recently ordered a stunning aluminum print from this session and I can’t wait to show it to you all on Facebook when it arrives this week.

Here a few of my favourites and hey KB I promise I’ll get the rest of them to you soon xx

Little Miss L {Goulburn Child Photographer}

I’ve done a few different sessions with this family over the last six months or so, and it’s always so much fun. The girls have the most amazing wardrobe! Check out this amazing vintage inspired romper from Rosie Cheeks.

Gorgeous Family of Three {Goulburn Family Photographer)

I’m currently trying to juggle school holidays and catching up my backlog of work from last year (which includes blogging some of my November & December 2016 sessions). I’m sure I’m not always winning in my juggling attempts though, as I’m sure any working parent can relate to!

I loved this shoot and not only because the mum is the daughter of one of my dearest friends. I especially loved the attention to detail and thought that went in to their outfits. How fab do they all look? Styling outfits can be tricky and at times overwhelming, but taking the time to put together a look that is complementary but not matchy matchy really helps to create images that ‘pop’. Navy is a really great base colour to start with.

Here are (just) a few of my favourites from our session.

Celebrating My First Year In Business {Goulburn Family Photographer}

Back in August, in celebration of my amazing first year in business, I gave away an all inclusive family photo session (including digital negatives and print package). I was completely overwhelmed by the number of people who took the time to enter. Due to some pretty ordinary weather during Spring we actually had a few false starts with our session, but luckily third time was a charm and the weather was perfect. I don’t think I could have gotten any luckier with my winners!

Welcome 2017

I hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas and New Year. I know I have! In fact this is the first time I’ve sat down at my home computer in well over a week. 2016 was such an amazing year for me, both personally and in my little business but I’m also really excited about what is to come in 2017. I’ve booked myself in to some amazing photography courses (including an intensive newborn course with one of Australia’s most well known newborn photographers) and I already have so many wonderful clients booked in for the next few months.

I always try to take things a little slower in January, we have four boys and I love the break from our overwhelming schedule and routine during school holidays. We also try to fit in some downtime during the weekends, before everything cranks up again in February.

Here are a few of my favourite images from 2016.

Early Sunday Mornings {Goulburn Family Photographer}

This session was a long time in the making. The mum was one of the first people to book me back when I launched my business. I think I even did a little dance in my office when she booked. It was such a nerve wracking time when I launched. I had so many fears and doubts. Would people respond to my work? Was it clear that this wasn’t my hobby but my business? Would my friendly but professional approach be valued? But you should always feel the fear and do it anyway!

The session turned out to be everything I hoped it would be and more. It was definitely worth getting up early on a Sunday morning for. I love every single image.

I had a tough time choosing but here are a few of my favourites.

Extended Family Shoot {Goulburn Family Photographer}

The last few months have been crazy busy and I’m so thankful to get the opportunity to do something I love so much. My absolute favourite sessions are held in the gorgeous soft light of the golden hour (that magical time just before sunset), in fact I rarely hold a shoot at any other time. Working at this time with small children can be tricky (I guess they don’t call it the witching hour for nothing), but it really does result in the most gorgeous images. These images are from a recent extended family shoot, bravely held in the golden hour with a tiny 3 month old.
