Gorgeous Engagement Session

I have to preface this blog showcasing this gorgeous engagement session that I’m actually not a wedding photographer. And although I get weekly enquiries, I don’t have any intention of taking on wedding work at this stage. But this session is easily one of my favourite sessions this year. I love the opportunity to step outside my comfort zone. This is the style of shoot I haven’t had the chance to do previously. And the location was absolutely amazing! I have actually driven past this property a few times in the past 6 months. And every single time I have wondered what might be beyond the beautiful gates. So you can only imagine my excitement as I was driving to the property and my GPS informed me I had arrived at my destination. I may have actually even squealed! And it definitely helped that Chris and Steph are ridiculously in love! I know they have a wonderful future ahead of them as they begin married life.

It was an absolute blessing to have so many beautiful locations and buildings to utilise and the soft warm light of a late Summer’s evening.

Goulburn Extended Family Session

School holidays are almost over and I have been easing myself back in to the swing of things. I am so thankful for my lovely clients who have given me time with my family over the Christmas break. I have so many lovely sessions to pop up on the blog in the coming weeks as I work through my editing pile.

This session was from before Christmas. The girls had their makeup professionally done with Jo Alchin at Styledforyou and they all looked absolutely gorgeous. It is my usual preference to either shoot early in the morning or late in the evening. However we had this session quite late in the morning and chose the little Reserve in Eastgrove, below the train tracks, knowing that it would provide us with some cover from the harsh summer sun. It was also unbelievably warm but we made it work!

Stormy Summer Nights – Goulburn Family Photographer

I have been really looking forward to sharing this beautiful  family session on my blog. When I met this family at our first location (which I will blog about another day), and saw them get out of the car, I actually did a little internal squeal about how gorgeous they all looked. I could instantly tell that the mum had put a lot of time and effort in to coordinating everyone’s outfits. And it was absolutely time and effort well spent!

We had previously postponed this session due to poor weather, and on this particular evening we got a bit lucky with a storm hitting just as we were wrapping up. But the sky just prior to this was simply amazing. And even better complementing the colours in the girls dresses just perfectly.

Selecting outfits can be tricky but my top three tips are:

1. Choose 3 or so colours for your family, ones with similar tones that compliment each other but aren’t matchy matchy.
2. Avoid patterns and overly bright colours.
3. Incorporating different textures, layers and accessories is the perfect way to add interest to your outfits.

And don’t ever discount comfort in your fashion choices. Because if you feel uncomfortable then that definitely has the potential to show in your images. Pinterest can also be a wealth of inspiration if you need some direction on colours that compliment each other. I am also more than happy to help you source beautiful dresses just like the ones in this session.

Extended Family Session ~ Goulburn Photographer

A month or so a go I was lucky enough to meet this lovely family who had chosen Goulburn as the perfect meeting location for their entire family to get together and have some family photos taken in an extended family session.

The weather in Goulburn over the past few weeks has been pretty unpredictable so we decided on the grounds of the Court House as our location, hoping that if it should rain we would be able to find cover! As it turned out the weather was perfect. I guess that’s Goulburn for you.

Extended family sessions are always a lot of fun with plenty of banter and laughter. This session was no exception. Thank you so much for travelling and allowing me to capture these images for you.

Want to book your own Extended Family Session?

Or perhaps you are still looking for a Christmas gift? Shop my Christmas sale HERE. 50% off all session fees and 20% off vouchers and packages! My prices will definitely be going up a smidge in 2018, so this is the last chance to lock in my 2017 prices.

I thought I would be all wrapped up with Christmas shooting by this weekend, but I’m so lucky to still have four little newborns to photograph in the next week. And with the exception of a few special projects, I will be taking January off to spend with my boys. If you’re interested in a session for February onwards please get in touch to lock in your preferred date.

Have a safe and happy Christmas.

Baby H – Goulburn Newborn Photographer

I thought I’d better blog this newborn session from a few months ago, it’s so gorgeous. I typically encourage clients to book in for their newborn sessions during the first two weeks of baby being born. This little man though was 4 weeks old. He was very settled and calm, and that was a great reminder that the two week rule is definitely not a hard and fast one.  The first few weeks of having a new baby in the house are definitely a learning curve, and you definitely shouldn’t discount getting some photographs taken, just because you have missed the first couple of weeks.

I really love the soft, gentle tones of the family images and the simplicity of the newborn images. I should add that the mum’s stunning makeup was done by the lovely Lex, at Made. By Lex.

I’m also pretty much booked out for the remainder of 2017. I have tried to squeeze as many families in as I possibly could. January is all about spending time with my boys, so I am not taking on many bookings at all during this time. Our third son is starting Primary school in 2018 and I’m really looking forward to spending some time with him over the summer holidays. He is my super chatty child, so it will be very quiet to not have him home.

I can’t believe we are now only 6 Friday’s away from Christmas. The last 6 months of the year always seem to rush by so quickly. My annual Christmas sale will be starting soon. It usually includes discounted session fees and discounts on packages and vouchers. If you’d like to find out about this sale first, jump on my email list HERE. My prices will definitely be increasing in 2018, so this is your last chance to really get yourself a bargain!

Family Farm Fun {Goulburn Family Photographer}

Today is the last day of school holidays. I’m feeling very fortunate that our holidays were filled with lots of lovely time with our family. I am also equal parts happy to get my older boys back off to school and sad that holidays and the break from routine is over. School holidays always start with such good intentions. I don’t take on any photo shoots during the school holidays. Instead I prefer to focus on spending time with my boys. I also usually take the break to catch up on my editing and blogging and do some planning for the coming the months.

Sometimes regardless of our intentions things don’t really work out as planned. So here I am on the last day of holidays scurrying to cross a few things from my ever growing list.

So that brings me to this gorgeous sessions. This little man was a week or so from turning 1. He was unbelievably happy and just loved hanging out with his parents at their property having his photo taken. My favourite thing about the session is just how natural all the images are. I think they really capture the innocence and joy that is so abundant with children at this age. I’m also really loving the black and white collage from the session, it’s just so beautiful.

Autumn Mini Sessions – Goulburn Photographer

Today I have spent most of the morning packaging up prints and USB’s from my recent autumn mini sessions at the Lake George Winery. It’s one of those jobs I probably should have saved for when my little ones weren’t around to “help” me out. I’ve lost count of how many times the scissors and sticky tape have gone missing. No doubt I’m soon to find something taped up that did not require it!

So I thought I should probably start blogging all the shoots from that day. This one was my first shoot for the day. Our day kicked off at 9:30 am and it was extremely foggy. I was also super excited because the mum from this shoot is just starting out on her own photography journey and I knew that meant she would nail the what to wear. And she definitely did. When deciding what to wear, especially in autumn and winter, you can never go wrong with layers. They add visual interest and allow you to bring in some colour and texture.

EOFY Sale & Availability

I can’t believe we are almost half way through the year already. Being an accountant 30 June is one of my favourite dates on the calendar, so keep an eye out for my EOFY sale coming up over the next few days.

Do you have a voucher that you are yet to use? Be sure to book in early to avoid disappointment, as I am already booking dates as far away as September. I also will be taking some time off over the July and September school holidays to spend with my boys.

Little Baby C {Goulburn Newborn Photographer}

Late last year I made a commitment to myself that I would invest some of my resources in to improving my newborn photography. Part of my plan involved finding a newborn workshop to attend. And like is often the way of the universe, exactly what I needed appeared in my inbox at the exact right moment. I nervously booked in to a workshop with award winning photographer Kelly Brown, you can check out some of her stunning work here
So finally a few weeks ago, the time rolled around for me to actually attend the workshop (yay to a weekend by myself in Sydney!). It was every bit as amazing as I had hoped it would be. We covered every single aspect of newborn photography, including (and I feel most importantly) infant safety. Being around people who are as passionate as you are about something is such a joyful experience.  And we all know how much I absolutely adore babies.

In the lead up to my workshop I put the call out on Facebook for a newborn model so that I would be able to consolidate everything I had learned as soon as possible. My inbox was absolutely inundated with emails and messages from expectant parents. I would have loved to be able to say yes to everyone, but eventually I settled on this little guy.

I couldn’t have asked for a better model call. They followed everything I had asked in order to prepare for the session and they were happy and relaxed. And most of all they were really happy and willing to be involved in the process. Photographing babies is time consuming and requires patience. I always give a guideline on how long it might take, but sometimes it simply takes longer. My priority is always first and foremost on the safety and comfort of the baby.

I’m absolutely in love with the images. Expecting a newborn soon? Book your session here

Gorgeous Mother and Daughter Session

This session has to be one of my favourite sessions so far this year. I absolutely love mother and daughter sessions and I think doing one with your teen is extra special.

We traveled out to the Old Federal Highway, about half way between Canberra and Goulburn. There’s a little stretch of road that runs in front of the Lake George Winery that has the most amazing Autumn leaves. And the girls and I wanted to take advantage of all those gorgeous Autumn colours. And as a result that fabulous pop of colour definitely added the wow factor to our images and really complemented the girls perfect styling.

The girls had their hair and makeup done by the very talented Jo at Styledforyou. Make sure you pop over and check out her Facebook page.

My absolute favourite shots from this session are the impromptu shots we did in a driveway after the session was finished. I actually got goosebumps when I saw how stunning the daughter looked in the gentle afternoon light. Is it just me or are teenagers these days so much sophisticated and graceful than when I was a teenager?

Fabulous & Fun Family of Five { Goulburn Family Photographer}

Thanks to Goulburn Rugby I have known this lovely little family forever. And I was so excited when this session was gifted to them by some of our friends when their third baby was born. Well that little man recently turned one. So we finally got around to having our session, at Rocky Hill, on an absolutely stunning Autumn day. We really couldn’t have asked for better weather.

This session was seriously fun, like laugh out loud, never want it to end fun. The brief was unposed, candid shots. Shots that capture their family just as they are at this moment in time. I think we definitely nailed that. And actually I couldn’t help but feel happy and giggly as I worked through editing the images.

Rocky Hill is such an iconic Goulburn location and it is perfect for a family session as there are so many areas to explore. It’s also one of my favourite spots in town and I often park at the wetlands and make my boys walk up via the stairs. We call it ‘exploring’ and they love climbing the rocks that lead from the stairs up to the War Memorial and then exploring the area beyond the War Memorial itself. It’s the perfect way for them to burn off some of their seemingly endless energy.

I had so much trouble choosing but here are just a few of my favourites:
